Courses Descriptions: Drawing (Fall) & Graphics (Spring)
Drawing & CartooningAs a studio art course, the majority of class time will consist of drawing and exploring various styles of expression including: typography, protest art and cartooning. One of the primary goals is to broaden the experience of the scholars with various drawing materials. The course will familiarize students with the elements of visual form, while enhancing critical and visual thinking. Scholars will investigate the different ways to approach and develop the process of drawing. References to the Manga, Fusion and other Comic and other historical art styles will be used throughout the course.

Due to COVID-19, access to classroom Art supplies will be limited. Therefore, the extent of independent practice and the exploration of materials is essential.

Graphic Design: Photoshop & IllustratorStudents will view themselves as the client, viewer, critic and Graphic Artist. The course promotes visual literacy, creative and independent thinking while enhancing the students’ ability to analyze art and it’s use in making social, historical and cultural connections through design. Artwork will be created in response to different circumstances and will reflect the diverse thinking of our scholars. In a society dominated by visual images, our responsibility to train our scholars to interpret these images.
